National Flute Player Dipak Sarma
Dipak Sarma, a young talented flutist was born in Assam. He started his flute lesson from Sri Prabhat Sarma of Guwahati and moved to Kolkota to have lessons leading to the Degree of Masters of Music under the guidance of Sri Debu Benerjee in Rabindra Bharati University. He was influenced for future development by Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia since 1992.
Dipak Sarma is at present regular graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan Kendra, Guwahati. He was performed at Assam Sangeet Sanmilan, Khairagarh University (MP), Radio Concert, Kalkekallar Sangeet Sanmilan in Mumbai and various Sangeet Sanmilan in India.
He was participated in youth festivals in various part of India both as an artist and as competitor and received Gold Medals. Dipak Sarma has taken part in two consecutive workshops conducted by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan in Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkota. He was composed a number of both vocal and instrumental composition for radio, T.V. He has also composed and conducted several audio cassettes, documentary films, T.V. serial and feature films.
He was one of the members of Assam Kala Kendra and gave solo performance (Flute) on 50th anniversary celebrations of India's Independence in South Africa, Seychelles, Mauritius and Reunion Island which was organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relationship on the 10th of August 1998 in South Africa. He was been touring different countries like Germany, France, Italy, Denmark, Nederland, Greek, Spain, Switzerland.
